New outlook...

A friend of mine that I have known since kindergarten died last week. It's so sad. We lost touch after high school, but I had known him for so long. 13 years. Sadly, he left behind 2 little girls. It's affected me more than I thought something like this would. I know the last post was very negative and crabby. I want to start to be more positive (which I know sounds easy to some of you but it is HARD work for someone who is just a pessimist at heart). So for Nic, here is something more positive today. I am also stealing the idea from my friend, Manda.

Top 10 great things about this past weekend:
1. Sleeping in my bed
2. Seeing a movie with my mom on Friday
3. Spending time with Kelly, Dan and beautiful Lydia
4. Riley's excitement for walks
5. China Palace
6. Visits from family
7. I-pods, really, for driving they rock
8. Ideas of trips with friends
9. Naps
10. Spending time with my folks

RIP Nic...you will be missed. http://www.greenbaypressgazette.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080921/GPG010301/809210691/1212/GPG010301

Work week..WTF?

So for those of us in this job field we know that there is nothing that is really considered a "work week". We work 24/7. REALLY. This past weekend we had a mandatory hall council training (which I was part of setting up, why again I can't remember) Friday night and all day Saturday. So pretty much my weekend consisted of Sunday, well up to 8pm when I had hall council meetings until 10pm. So when people higher up say that we need to meet during the normal work week hours (aka 8am-5pm) I want to punch them in the face.

These are the times I hate this job. And it's hard as a single person because I don't have the physical people reminders around to remind the students (my RAs included) that I don't want to meet at 8pm all the time. They think that they work at night, so I should to.

Job searching anyone???

Haven't I been here before???

Well, I had a blog a LONG time ago and was sick of it but now think it might be fun to do it again. Living in a residence hall at 30 might give me stories my friends with "normal" jobs might find amusing.

Here is a funny story for today:

I have had a bad cold for the last 3 days (probably from working like 24/7 since August 11th) so I took a nap at 5:30pm. I woke up to base and music and looked over at the clock which said 7:34 and I thought to myself "what college student is playing music at 7 in the freakin' morning?!?!" Then I rolled over, woke up a little more and realized it was 7: 34PM! So then I got up, walked Riley and went to Taco Bell (off campus since the one on campus now does not serve my favorite chilli cheese burrito anymore and I have been craving it since last week).

So, yes. This is what living in the halls does to you.
